We're saying farewell to spring and welcome to summer with seven shots from around Lamar County in seven days. Recognize this local landmark?

  2. @ andrewodom--yes! Of course, you would know it well! I'm guessing you have the inside of the wall memorized too. Do they actually print the paper on site? I've only been in the lobby once. Bought a paper from the receptionist and left. I wasn't offered the tour ;)

@ anyone else--If you drive into town you'll see this large mural (maybe 15 ft high and at least 30 ft wide) on the side of the Herald-Gazette building on Greenwood St. However, it is in black and white and resembles newsprint. I took a bit of artistic license to make it more interesting for this post.

  3. @Tim - The press was held inside the "hangar" and was fully functional until the 90s when newspapers went to digital press. Now the process involved converting quarkXpress files over to PDF which are then uploaded to the printer (in Macon) and printed on actual plates (but not roller plates....just ink plates).

A tour would be NO fun as there is nothing inside worth looking at except a few dynamic employees!
